The Rise and Fall of Hezbollah

📖 The current geopolitical landscape in the Middle East is constantly evolving, especially with the ongoing role of groups like Hezbollah. Are you interested in understanding how their history and actions have shaped Lebanon and the broader Middle East region? 🌍

This lecture will examine Hezbollah’s history and its impact on Lebanon and the region 🇱🇧 Dr. Rola El-Husseini will analyze five key moments, including the 2000 Israeli withdrawal, the 2006 War, Hezbollah’s domestic conflicts and its role in Syria, and its evolving regional strategy following Hamas’ Al Aqsa Flood Operation in 2023.

Dr. Rola El-Husseini is an Associate Professor at Lund University’s Centre for Middle Eastern Studies. A specialist in Lebanese politics, Shi‘ism, and Hezbollah, she has held positions at Yale University and CUNY. Her research explores power-sharing, Syrian influence in Lebanon, and Arab women’s political representation after the 2011 Arab uprisings.
