Lecture

Every month throughout the academic year, UPF invites guests to lecture on a diverse range of topics. These lectures are the proud product of the Lecture Committee’s work.

As a member of UPF Lund you can attend all of our lectures for free, and the in-person lectures are open to everyone at an entrance fee of 70 SEK for non-members.

Being part of the Lecture Committee gives you the opportunity to invite lecturers that you admire or otherwise find interesting, and collaborate with the other members to create our lectures from start to finish. After lectures, you have the opportunity to dine with the lecturer(s), which will give you a good chance to establish contact and interact with the lecturers.

Notable past speakers at UPF Lund include Kofi Annan, Jan Eliasson, Margot Wallström and Göran Rosenberg.

The Lecture Committee meets every Wednesday, 17-18 in the UPF Office.

Meet the Committee

Ellen S Harrestam

Hi!

My name is Ellen and I’m so happy to continue my journey with UPF Lund, this years as co-head and deputy board member. I began my time in UPF last year as a Trustee and Host for the Lecture Committee and I’m very excited to further develop the committee and our outreach this operational year.

I am studying a masters in European studies and during the autumn I’m interning at the Embassy of Sweden in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. I have been living in Lund since 2019 studying a double bachelors in European studies and Swedish linguistics.

I think UPF Lund is a great association to get insights and hands-on experience in foreign politics. The Lecture Committee offer many changes for students to participate and connect in various international topics leading to a more inclusivity and transparency. I hope as many students as possibly want to be a part of our committee, everybody is welcome!

Lina Ingstrand

Hello there!

I’m Lina Ingstrand, and this year I’m one of the co-heads for the lecture committee as well as a board member. Born and raised in Stockholm, I’m now in my fourth year in Lund pursuing a double bachelors in political science and economics, and have been active within the student life through LundaEkonomerna for just as long. I’m super excited to now be a part of UPF Lund, evolving within the area of foreign affairs and meeting new inspiring people!

When I don’t study or work on upcoming lectures, I love to hang out with friends, cook, explore new music, and travel. Before coming to Lund I spent a year studying and working in France, and I can’t wait to travel more after I finish my studies.

This year we have so much fun coming up within the lecture committee, so don’t hesitate to reach out if you’re interested in joining our amazing group!

Juan Camilo Franco

Hi everyone!

My name is Juan, and I’m thrilled to be part of the UPF Lund board this year. I come from Colombia and I’m currently pursuing my Master’s in International Development and Management here in Lund. Before that, I studied International Relations in Bogotá and worked in project management, international cooperation, and diplomacy.

My main interests lie in peacebuilding, international cooperation, social change, and development. I’ve had the chance to lead projects in rural areas of Colombia, and I’m passionate about finding ways to make global challenges more accessible and relevant to students.

Outside of my studies and UPF, I love food, traveling, and immersing myself in new cultures. Since moving to Sweden, I’ve been enjoying exploring Swedish traditions, from fika and local cuisine to discovering Lund’s cultural scene and student life.

For me, UPF is a space where international affairs meet community, and I’m looking forward to helping create inspiring and engaging lectures this year!
