Syria after the Assads
February 20 @ 15:15 - 16:30

📖 Since 1971, Hafez al-Assad and later his son, Bashar al-Assad, have held a tight grip on power in Syria. The 2011 uprising, which began as peaceful protests, quickly escalated into a devastating civil war, drawing in global and regional actors. After decades of Assad family rule marked by authoritarian governance, the fallout of Assad has marked what’s next for Syria?
Join us for this lecture exploring the possible political transitions, security challenges, and the role of international actors. Drawing on years of research, Aron Lund provides insights into Syria’s uncertain future and the forces shaping its post-Assad trajectory.
