Day 1 – Day of Arrival!

Buongiorno!

We have arrived in Rome and we have already managed to do several touristy things. The sun was out when our cab drove the first bunch of us into town from the airport, and after finding our apartment (which is right in front of the residence of the most charming Italian drunk you could ever meet) and having an hour-long chat with our landlady Patrizia about places she recommended, we went for a “casual walk”. The walk resulted in a visit to the Colosseum, wishing by Fontana di Trevi and gelato recommended by Patrizia. (Someone still insisted on calling the gelato in Bar Italia at Västra hamnen “the best gelato in the entire world”, but the group as a whole was confident that this person would change his or her mind during our stay here.) A fruitful afternoon indeed, even though the rain started pouring down by the end of it.

In the evening, when everybody in the group had finally arrived, we decided to order in some pizza and just hang out. Most of us had woken up around 4.30 AM and were really tired, so that suited us perfectly.

The plans for tomorrow include a meeting with the Swedish ambassador for the Vatican, Ulla Gudmundson, general audience with the Pope and finally a visit to Galleria Borghese. An exciting schedule is ahead of us, let’s hope the rain has subsided by then!

Ciao!
